The Role
LERMA/ senior art directors excel at visual storytelling and bringing big campaign ideas to life. They are obsessed with creating award-winning ideas and visual expressions. They have a strong capacity for interpreting a creative brief and coming up with big ideas, whether that’s expressed on a Super Bowl ad, in social media, OOH, or digital platforms and beyond.
LERMA/ senior art directors are always seeking to expand their window of inspiration as well as their range of stylistic expertise. They use empathy and research to understand a range of lifestyles and worldviews, and they are able to translate that understanding into meaningful visual ideas for a diverse set of audiences and brands.
What You’ll Do
LERMA/ senior art directors work in a highly collaborative environment with writers, creative directors, content creators, social strategists, brand planners, and brand managers to develop breakthrough campaign ideas that are on strategy, inspiring, and business-building.
LERMA/ senior art directors partner with copywriters and work under the guidance and support of the associate creative director and creative director through the concept and executional phases of an assignment.
LERMA/ senior art directors create big ideas, creative presentations, mood boards, storyboards, layouts, sketches, comps, and some motion design to develop and sell ideas.
LERMA/ senior art directors and copywriters are the backbone of creative projects through concept development, and they play a supporting role during production by helping guide directors, photographers, illustrators, editors, animators, and other production partners.
What You’ll Bring to the Table
- Six to eight years of experience developing big campaign ideas.
- A love for award-winning advertising.
- A mind that is bursting with ideas and a joy in workshopping and sharing those ideas.
- A strong ability to visualize ideas that have an emotional impact, targeting a specific audience.
- A mindset that embraces an environment of creative critique where the bar is set very high.
- An impressive proficiency with the Adobe Suite, presentation apps (Keynote, PowerPoint, and Google Slides), and emerging AI tools.
- Competence when presenting ideas.
A collaborative spirit when working with copywriting partners, content creators, designers, social strategists, the associate creative director, and the creative director. An ability to express ideas across different media, such as social media, video, TV, branding, print, OOH, AR, VR, and AI. The LERMA/ senior art director is a multi-talent — their skills expand beyond layout composition and include one or more of the following: animation, editing, music composition/production, hand lettering, Illustration, poetry, programming, painting, etc.
The LERMA/ creative is a culture sponge, soaking up pop culture and diving into niche trends, seeking to find the edges of creativity. From the shiny new things to timeless classic things, creatives are endlessly curious to find new inspiration and share that inspiration with others.
