Controller

Lerma Agency is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Controller to join our dynamic team in the Dallas, TX area. As the controller you will play a pivotal role in our financial operations, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of our financial management systems. The Controller will manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting group, including accurate and timely processing of A/P, A/R and project accounting. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of project cost accounting and develop partnerships with key stakeholders throughout the organization to ensure project success.  Responsibilities:

  • Manage the general accounting work, including AR/AP, job costing and GL postings for projects.
  • Prepare and compile timely and accurate monthly and quarterly financial results.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and prepare necessary filings.
  • Monitor cash flow and liquidity to support the agency’s financial stability.
  • Implement cash flow projections and manage working capital effectively.
  • Analyze project cost and profitability and ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with project budgets to maximize positive cash flow.
  • Manage the preparation of the annual tax return process, working with our third-party tax accountants.
  • Maintain and improve financial software systems and tools.
  • Streamline financial processes and enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Oversee and support a team of financial professionals to create an environment of trust and productivity.
  • Foster a culture of financial responsibility and accountability.

 Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in progressively responsible accounting roles in the advertising, media, or similar industry preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of project cost control, percentage of completion accounting and expense recognition.
  • Proficient with Advantage®, Microsoft Dynamics, Mediaocean® or related software experience a plus.
  • Solid leadership skills and the ability to interface with and collaborate with senior executive management.
  • Skilled problem solver with a knack for working with people to achieve success.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently in a fast-changing and evolving service line.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to roll up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity.
